Flowers on Saturday

I am linking with http://blueberrycraftandhobbytime.blogspot.com/ so I can share these photos. I took these on a gray cloudy day and was so pleasantly surprised at the outcome. They were taken indoors with natural light. I used my point and shoot canon and my Rebel with the 50mm portrait lens. I think I want to explore still life's a little now. I ran across a photo blog of a photographer that does only that and I need to track that one down. Does anyone know??. I am looking for a little inspiration. :)

Sky Watch Street Photography

Snow in this neck of the woods!!???? That's what Al Roker is saying. Hard to believe when they are talking 6-12 inches! Hopefully it's a whole lotta excitement about nothing. I hope. I still haven't put my flip flops away for the season. I love flip flops. Gabe is so excited this morning that he is jumping out of his skin. He loves Winter, and all it entails. He begged me to get his snowsuit and boots out and ready. I am going into a state of denial.
Happy skywatch friday. http://skyley.blogspot.com/

The Creative Exchange

I am linking with Lisa at : http://www.lgordonphotography.com/ for the Creative Exchange. It is a chance for me to show off my Cosmo photos I took Sunday. I got tired of chasing my son around and trying to photograph him so I focused on the bees instead. We have a small patch of Cosmos that I planted by seed in the Spring. The bees love these! I had my portrait 50mm lens on my Canon Rebel and tried to open my aperture as wide as possible. I think I did okay. The late afternoon autumn light was lovely too.

Mosaic Monday

I had an eventful weekend! Friday night a high school soccer game, Saturday a concert with awesome up front stage access. Dierks Bentley for free! What a great show. Yesterday was my birthday. Not a fan of this day. It's not the age(45), but the attention it brings. I think you should celebrate people you love everyday in little ways. Right? It was a good day overall with a yummy dinner, a few surprise gifts, and a quick photo shoot of my son Donovan. It was my second of the week. I am trying to take my daughter's senior photos. Just the casual, natural light ones. I need to make a second attempt when we find the time. She is such a doll to let me practice on her. I am linking in with Mary and friends at : http://dearlittleredhouse.blogspot.com/. Enjoy!

Stumped

I found this gorgeous colorful creation growing on a leveled stump in our backyard. What would you call this?? The color patterns are fantastic and even inspiring. Maybe I can somehow transplant it in a terrarium and bring it inside. Or maybe that wont work at all. But I just may try it. :)

Sky Watch Street Photography

In my quest to find beauty around town I have become obsessed with telephone poles and the wires that connect them all together. I especially like it when the back drop is a blue sky with a cloud show going on. I find myself looking for patterns and small compositions among the strung wires and curvilinear clouds loving the whimsy of it. Don't forget to look up. :)

I had to beg and pout for this photo.
I am joining in with The Creative Exchange. It is such a great opportunity to get inspired.

More Fall Ball

Fall Ball and Black and White

We signed Gabe up for Fall Ball. It sounded kind of idyllic, literally, an alliteration. It just rolls off the tongue. "Fall Ball". My husband assured me that the time commitment was just two little games a week on Saturday morns. It would be cooler yet still sunny and warm as colorful leaves delicately fall off of the trees. Well, it turns out that it is all of that and some. He has four games every weekend and a few practices thrown in their too. And, they don't start on time, they run late and they suck up 6 hours on Saturday alone. Factor in an ornery 10 year old who does not want to go, until he's there and engrossed in the game, and the joy of hunting for clean under armour and missing protective cups. But, we made it there. He played and hit and caught a few, and the rain never quite started as the wind picked up and the temperature dropped as the clouds rolled in and the cranky toddlers cried for their afternoon naps. Hallelujah.

Doll Houses Around Town

Two more photographs on my quest to find beauty around my town. Yeah for me. I really love the first one. I am finding that I like to photograph architecture best when it's not posing. When you catch it off guard at dramatic angles it looks some how more natural and interesting. Although the red brick above certainly posed. I have probably driven by that house a thousand times in my lifetime and never really appreciated it. I think it would be difficult to take a bad photo of doll like that. :)

Late Summer Sunflowers

I refuse to call these beauties early Fall sunflowers even though the calendar says otherwise. Yesterday was one of those "heavenly days" weather wise. The kind of day when you can hear Patty Griffin singing in your ear as you step outside to snatch an odd soccer cleat off your front lawn. This week as been especially grueling, exhausting and eye-opening for us in the arena of raising kids. I am grateful and god thanking that I am not a single parent this week. And, even more thankful that God gave me the wisdom to marry someone who can handle life's "little" crises. And, I am thankful for warm Fall days when sunflowers still thrive, and a patient 12 year old that stays in our minivan on the side of the road as I take pictures of aging flowers in the afternoon sun. "Enough Mom! Get back in the van!" he eventually calls.

Linking up with Saturdays Flowers: http://blueberrycraftandhobbytime.blogspot.com/ . Enjoy!
